History
Darley Abbey was originally the site of an Augustinian Priory which was almost totally obliterated during the Dissolution of the Monasteries. The only remaining building is now a public house.
Notable buildings and attractions
It is located on the River Derwent and is associated with the world heritage site of Derwent Valley Mills. There is also a toll bridge across the river which leads to the mill buildings.
Darley Park is a beautiful and popular park featuring many different garden and wildlife areas. You can walk all the way through the park alongside the river between Darley Abbey village and the city of Derby.
