The Digital Humanities Summer Institute (DHSI) is an annual digital humanities training program held in June at the University of Victoria, Victoria, BC, Canada. DHSI now attracts over 600 participants [1] for a week of courses, forum discussions, paper sessions, and unconferences.
History
DHSI started in 2001 at Vancouver Island University (then Malaspina C-U). The inaugural DHSI included lead speakers Susan Hockey (University College London), Nancy Ide (Vassar C), Willard McCarty (Kings College London), and John Unsworth (U Virginia). Susan Schreibman (U Maryland), Ray Siemens (U Victoria), and staff from the Centre for Digital Humanities Innovation were instructors.[2]
