approximately a half hour into the film, Garner playing Abel answers the question "are you married" by saying "I'm a faggot... have you seen the women in this town?" Also, the woman whose murder he is investigating is considered or accused of being a lesbian by her surviving husband. I'm still watching (it's on youtube) so I'm not sure where it's going, but the references are strikingly archaic by today's standards, not unusual attitudes for the time, but not present in every film either.
