Mindy Crenshaw is a recurring character in Nickelodeon's Drake & Josh show, played by Allison Scagliotti-Smith.

Appearances

Mindy is very smart; her IQ is not known, but it must be very high, since she has beaten Josh in their school's science fair every year, and even cloned her dog (and cloned the clone). However, she is also rather arrogant and can be mean, as seen in her first appearance, in "Honor Council". There, she frames Drake for putting her teacher's car in her classroom because the teacher once gave her a B grade, which ruined her straight A average. She says in the episode that she is better than everyone.

When she was convicted of her crime, she was suspended from school.

In the episode "Mindy's back" it is learned that she was sent to a mental rehabilitation clinic after she was suspended. Now that she has been released (to Josh's disappointment), she appears at the science fair and is ready to go to school again. She seems to have mellowed slightly after that, but not enough to resist beating Josh's electromagnet in the science fair yet again. With a stronger yet smaller magnet she created, she humiliates Josh once again. Later in class, when asked who she wants as her project partner, she picks Josh, much to his dismay.

Later at Josh's house, after talking to Megan (who hates Mindy, since it's apparently her job to make her brother's life miserable), Mindy says that they are on the same team: Megan can only torment Josh at home, but Mindy can do it at school, and that would leave Josh miserable almost all the time—which Megan likes. Drake takes Megan away, since he doesn't want her infested with "Mindy germs". Mindy then starts insulting Josh. He asks her why she has to one-up him all the time. She gets her kicks by making him look stupid, and then she reveals that she doesn't think he is stupid—rather, she "likes" him. After arguing about it for a while Josh says he likes her too and they become girlfriend and boyfriend.

She later comes over again, to work on the project some more. They then compliment each other a bit:

Mindy: "I like your shirt."
Josh: "I like your face."
Mindy: "Oh Josh!"

Josh gives her a plastic shark, which she loves since sharks are her favorite ocean predator. However, before they can work on their project, Drake comes in and insults Mindy, since he hates her for almost getting him suspended last year, for putting the car in his teacher's room. Mindy gets upset and asks Josh why Drake would treat his brother's girlfriend that way; Josh says that he never told Drake that they were dating. Mindy says that Josh has to tell Drake that they are dating, but Josh chickens out after having a nightmare in which Drake's head explodes after Josh tells him.

When Mindy finds out, she breaks up with him just before their first kiss. Josh then tells Drake about him and Mindy, and he doesn't mind—she is Josh's girlfriend and he's just happy that Josh has a girlfriend. They go to Mindy's house so Josh can apologise and once there, Josh stands on Drake's shoulders so he can talk to Mindy through her window. After he apologizes and says that he told Drake about them, she says that they shouldn't date anymore, but she changes her mind and they kiss and get back together. Suddenly, Drake can't hold Josh up anymore and he falls down, taking Josh and Mindy with him.

Josh becomes enamored of the "Power of the Stache" and grows one of his own. In response, Mindy gives him an ultimatum--shave it off or she will refuse to ever kiss him again. Josh responds that he will not remove it until Mindy kisses him. Frustrated, Mindy employs Megan to remove the mustache for thirty dollars--but only gets half of her moneys' worth. Meanwhile, Mindy helps Drake sort out his feelings for his current girlfriend Tori--by having Josh play-act as her.

In this episode, since Josh and Mindy have been dating several months, Mindy feels it's time for Josh to meet her parents for dinner at her house. Once there, Josh gives Mr. Crenshaw a box of chocolates and Mrs. Crenshaw some daisies; Mr. Crenshaw says that he is diabetic and Mrs. Crenshaw says that she is allergic to daisies. He then switches the gifts and Mrs. Crenshaw says chocolate gives her hives and Mr. Crenshaw says that in Czechoslovakia daisies are the flowers of death. (Judging from their attitudes, Mindy got her arrogance and brains from the two.) Once they sit down, one of the bulbs from their chandelier starts blinking. Mrs. Crenshaw says that it's giving her a headache, so Josh stands on his chair and tightens the bulb while Mindy keeps saying "Please don't fall down" over and over. Josh doesn't fall, but the chandelier does.

Later, Josh fixes up the dining room because he managed to convince Mindy's parents to come over for dinner. He tells Drake that he and his girlfriend Lucy, who are planning to have a wrestling match to prove who is tougher, have to stay upstairs because if things don't go well, Mindy's parents will forbid her from dating Josh. Josh sends Drake and Lucy upstairs right before Mindy and her parents come over.

Things go well; Mindy's parents like the ice sculpture and the elderly harp player that Josh got. They say that they had the wrong impression about Josh, but then Drake and Lucy bring their wrestling match downstairs. They cause a ruckus, along with Megan and all the kids she charged to watch Drake and Lucy fight, so Josh breaks up the fight saying that it's a tie. Once Mindy's parents find out that Drake is Josh's brother, they say that Mindy isn't allowed to date Josh anymore. Josh yells at Drake about how he ruined his relationship, and how he worked for two days and spent $400 on the ice sculpture and elderly harp player.

After Mindy's parents hear how much trouble Josh went through, they let them date again, and Mr. Crenshaw then asks why Drake and Lucy were fighting. Drake says that they were fighting to see who was tougher. Mr. Crenshaw says that men are genetically predispositioned to be better fighters then women; Mrs. Crenshaw says that it isn't true, and that women's skill makes them better fighters. Then they start wrestling with each other.

A scene at the end of the episode shows that Mindy has a little brother, Alden, whom was supposed to make matters worse at Mindy's house and was appearently cut for time. She has a third cousin, Denise, who works as a Hollywood make-up artist ("Alien Invasion"). Mindy and Josh are still together as of the close of the second season, as Josh mentions that Drake sprayed her with a water hose in "Dr. Phyllis Show." Template:Endspoiler
