Email controversy

In March 2015, Beck-Sickinger was in the news[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8], for her reported email to an Indian internship applicant whom she had refused the position citing "India's rape problem". This evoked sharp outrage from the German ambassador to India, Michael Steiner[9] and was widely reported in social media in India[10]. According a BBC report dated March 11, 2015[11], "The university said that Beck-Sickinger has deleted that particular email exchange, but argues that she never answered an application in that way". In an article published by Swiss German-language daily newspaper Blick says that Beck-Sickinger admitted that she had "made a mistake".[12]
