I think the original translation must have been done by machine. For example, it converted "Paul Koch" to "Paul Cook," which I can't believe any human being would do. Of course it was helpless with separable verbs, and the entire translation was literal word-for-word. What is the meaning of "la" (letters "I" as in India and "a" as in alpha), in the following passage that mentions "Ia Major von Stülpnagel"?
"...Captain Rohr spoke at the command post of General-Commando 3 (GKo 3) in Nouillon-Pont on March 13, 1916, before General von Lochow, the Chief of Staff, Colonel Wetzell and Ia Major von Stülpnagel..."

Translation

I did a re-translation from the German original. It's certainly much better than the very poor translation available before, but my German is not perfect, and there are probably some errors.

I think the original translation must have been done by machine. For example, it converted "Paul Koch" to "Paul Cook," which I can't believe any human being would do. Of course it was helpless with separable verbs, and the entire translation was literal word-for-word. Wallace McDonald (talk) 11:01, 16 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
