The stadium was renovated in 1986, following a voter-approved bond issue. The original home bleachers, at the stadium's west side, still stand, but are now the visiting bleachers. The original announcer's booth now is used as a spotter's nest, for both home and visiting teams.

Currently, the stadium is undergoing another renovation, which the old bleachers and spotter's nest were torn down in favor of new ones. However, one aspect of the renovation caused controversy - the demolition of the 'R' and the 'H' that flanked the old bleachers in 2014.


The stadium was named after Fran Rish, a legendary football and baseball coach of Richland High School. Rish died in early February 2006.
