Yevhen Fedorovych Stankovych (Template:Lang-uk; born September 19, 1942) is a contemporary Ukrainian composer of stage, orchestral, chamber, and choral works. His works have been performed around the globe.

Biography

Stankovych was born in Svaliava, Ukraine (in the Transcarpathians). In 1962-63, he studied composition with Adam Soltys at the L'viv Mykola Lysenko Conservatoire. From 1965 to 1970 Yehven studied composition with Boris Lyatoshynsky and Myroslav Skoryk at the Kiev Conservatory. He has worked as a music editor, a chairman of the Ukrainian Composers' Union, and has been working as a professor of composition in the Kiev Conservatory, now the National Music Academy of Ukraine, since 1998.

Works

Dr. Stankovych has also received many awards and honours for his compositions. His works include 12 symphonies, 5 ballets, 1 opera, instrumental concertos, chamber and film music.
