Nugzar Valeryevich Kvirtia (Georgian: ნუგზარ ვალერის ძე კვირტია; born September 16, 1984) is a Georgian professional football player with Russian passports.
A left-sided player who can play full-back or winger, he began his career at local FC KHIMKI then played in several Russian clubs before joining top-flight AZAL PFC (Azerbaijan Premier League) in 2009. Season 2012 - 2013 moved to Turan Tovuz (Azerbaijan Premier League). Season 2013 - 2014 he moved to Georgia and signed with FC Guria Lanchkhuti (Umaglesi Liga). 2014 - 2015 signed a two-year contract with ES Zarzis (CLP-1|) Season 2015/2016 he return to AZAL PFC (Azerbaijan Premier League)
Early life
Kvirtia was born in Tbilisi on 16 september 1984. His Father Valeriy Appolonovich Kvirtia, was a professional football player in Khobi, Skuri, FC Guria Lanchkhuti and his mother is a cook. The family was forced to move from Georgia to Moscow because of the war in the country. The first steps in football began in Russia in the school FSHM in the Luzhniki Stadium, two years became the winner of the Cup among his age.
Club career
Kvirtiya started his career in 2000 at Dinamo Tbilisi 2 before leaving for FC Khimki
FC KHIMKI
Kvirtia joined FC Khimki in August 2002. In the Winter Cup semifinals came off the bench and scored two goals against Russian Premier League team FC Saturn, his team won 4-3 but in the final he can't get his first trophy with the team and they lose 0-1.
AZAL PFC
On 7 July 2009, Kvirtia joined AZAL PFC on a 2 years contract. Kvirtia made his Azerbaijan Premier League debut against Neftchi Baku on 16 August 2009. In his debut season, his team could not get into the top six. In the end of 2010, FC Gabala interested in him but AZAL PFC didn't sell him.[1] The next season 2010/2011 for Kvirtia was one of the best, AZAL PFC get into the top six. In the quarter-final of Azerbaijan Cup he scored at 43 minutes and AZAL PFC reached in the semifinal.
After a minor injury, he returned in 16 October 2010 as a substitute in the match against Inter Baku when the score was 0-0, he made an assist and then scored himself, AZAL PFC won at the defending champion 5-0. Kvirtia become one of the best pass assistent in the team. From 2009 to 2012 Kvirtia played 100 official matches in all competitions for AZAL PFC
In the season 2010-2011 Kvirtia helped his team to get into the qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League.
30 July 2011 Kvirtia made his debut in the UEFA Europa League against FC Minsk, he came on as a substitute in the 71st minute.
The first game ended with the score 1-1 in Baku.
The second game was in Minsk and AZAL PFC lost 1-2 and flew out of the UEFA Europa League.
TURAN PFC
Kvirtia signed for one year contract with Azerbaijan team. [2] Asker Abdullayev invited him in Turan PFC, who had worked with him in the 2009/2010 season in AZAL PFC.
He initiated Kvirtia's move from Russia and he gave him a t-shirt with number 10 in AZAL PFC, but in Turan PFC he played with number 25 because the t-shirt with number 10 was the captain of the team. On 23 September 2012 he played first match in new team against Garabagh FC.
Kvirtia bring some creative in Azerbaijan Premier League celebrating team goals with his team mates [3]
FC GURIA
14 years have passed since the Kvirtia playing at home in Georgia, he always wanted to return to his homeland, he signed a one-year contract with FC Guria Lanchkhuti (Umaglesi Liga), in '80s in the Soviet Union, his father played for this team. [4]
On 2 March 2014 debuted in Georgian Umaglesi Liga against FC Tskhinvali he came on as a substitute in the 65 minutes. His team get into the top six and they fought for a place in European competition.
During the season 2013/2014 Tarlan Akhmedov head coach of Azerbaijan club AZAL PFC where Kvirtia was played 3 season wanted to return him, but Kvirtia moved to Tunisia [5]
ESPERANCE SPORTIVE DE ZARZIS
On 7 August 2014 he signed a two-year contract with ES Zarzis (CLP-1|) and he became the first Georgian professional football player who played in the (Tunisia Premier league) ( CLP-1|) [6] On 19 August 2014 debuted in (CLP-1|) he came on as a substitute in the 78 minutes when the score was 0-0, He helped the team win the first match of the season away against HAMMAM-LIF 1-0.
ES Zarzis conducted the unbeaten games and so entrenched in the top three teams in the championship leaders, Kvirtia played in all matches. During the season, club president of ES Zarzis create huge problems for Kvirtia, it came to financial problems and threats, because of these Nugzar had to terminate the contract by mutual agreement, take payment and leave the country. The whole process took 3 months, during this time he was very depressed and was not able to show his best performance to help the team.
AZAL PFC
On 28 July Kvirtia return to his former team AZAL PFC [7] and signed one year contract. He always wanted to come back in his "family team" as he called in all interviews [8] [9] His first game in the season 2015/2016 was on 9 August against FC Zire.
