''Saurian'' started development in November of 2013, as an unfunded effort by a team of amateur game developers to create a realistic and scientifically accurate dinosaur video game with the help of several paleontologists including Trey Swenton to make it accurate to real life. The project continued its development for two years before launching a [[KickStarter]] campaign in May of 2016; and soon met its $55,000 goal in only two days; the game has currently raised over $79,000 dollars. Saurian is an upcoming simulation video game by Urvogel Games. The game uses the Unity engine as its base, and has a projected release date of January 2017. The game is slated to initially release on Microsoft Windows and Macintosh, with a Linux version being developed after completion.

Gameplay

Saurian is a 3D title is focused upon accurately simulating the natural ecosystem of the Hell Creek Formation in an interactive format. Players take control of one of four dinosaurs (Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Dakotaraptor and Pachycephalosaurus) and attempt to survive within the Hell Creek Formation by avoiding predation and keeping themselves healthy. The world is populated by A.I-controlled dinosaurs, which respond to the game's mechanics in the same way players do. Players will be able to customize their dinosaur's physical and pattern traits, and will be able to play with genetic variants, such as albinism and melanism. A Spectator mode is also planned, allowing players to explore the game world without worrying about the simulation.
