Attribution

Wikipedia allows copying from public domain sources with attribution. It is pretty much how wikipedia was started. Thousands of articles link to Template:DANFS, which indicates they have copied public domain text. See also, WP:FREECOPYING --Dual Freq (talk) 23:32, 27 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In fact the attribution template {{USNAVY}} is designed for just this purpose, attributing copied text. --Dual Freq (talk) 23:35, 27 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There is an entire category of attribution templates with over 200 templates to attributed copied PD materials into wikipedia. See Category:Attribution templates. There is no copyright violation for copying public domain US Navy materials and it is not plagiarism if you attribute it with the template. --Dual Freq (talk) 02:27, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
