Despite starting just one year at Ohio State University, he won the Ray Guy Award for the best punter in the nation. He was selected in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Packers, much to the chagrin of their fans. The anger was accelerated when Sander had a poor preseason, and did not punt at all his rookie season, becoming the butt of many jokes by the fans. The following year, he put up nice numbers in NFL Europe, and even punted respectably for the first half of the regular season. However, once the cold weather started in Green Bay, Sander Struggled, and ended up near the bottom of the punter rankings.

Sander was released as of Monday, August 21st, thus ending the '06 punting competition for the Green Bay Packers. Newcomer Jon Ryan will now take the starting job for the Packers.
