Sa`ad Mohamed

Sa`ad Mohamed is a Pakistani mountaineer, photo-cum-videographer and an artiste. He is also the goodwill ambassador for WWF Pakistan. He was born in 1981 and is one of few active​ mountaineers​ in Pakistan who dabbles into​ aviation & film making. The highlight of his mountaineering is to have climbed Spantik 7,027m in 2012 while being part of the joint Pak-China Friendship Expedition, which was a collaboration between Alpine Club of Pakistan and the Chinese Mountaineering Association & climbing two virgin peaks - Ra’na Kook Ser 5,525m & Moamee Mariya Kataria Ser 5,457m in alpine style and that too in tandem in Shimshal in Aug/Sep 2015.

Mountaineering Experience ​

  • 2015 – Ra’na Kook Ser 5,525m & Moamee Mariya Kataria Ser 5,457m in Shimshal Expedition Resilience - expedition leader of the first ever ascent of the peaks in alpine style and that too in tandem.
  • 2014 - Falak Ser 5,918m - failed SNGPL sponsored team attempt on the highest mountain of the Swat region, which discovered Auwkha La’ - 5,325m and descend the peak from the south face.
  • 2014 – KuzzSer 5,950m Expedition Frozen Ecstasy – expedition leader of the first ever winter expedition to Shimshal climbing the peak from its South face on a first ascent route.
  • 2014 – Mingleeg Ser 6,050m - failed winter team attempt on the most famous peak in Shaimshal.
  • 2013 - Kooksil V 5,830m Expedition Gecko – led the first all Pakistani expedition on a previously unclimbed route on a peak in the Khunjerav National Park.
  • 2012 - Spantik 7,027m - summiting member as part of the Pak-China Expedition, commemorating 60 years of bilateral diplomatic relations.
  • 2010 - Mariya Seema Peak 5,350m - first solo summiter/discoverer – Kuchkaur Valley – Shimshal.
  • 2010 – Chashkin Ser 6,300m - failed solo attempt on Samina Peak in Maidoor Valley – Shimshal.
  • 2009 - Kooksil V 5,830m - failed team attempt on a peak in Khunjerav National Park.
  • 2008 - Peer Peak III 5,600m - expedition leader to the peak on Shpoadeen Pass, Shimhsal Valley
  • 2008 - Yazghil Ser 6,200m Advance Base Camp 5,100m in Shimshal.
  • 2007 - Moosa ka Mussalla 5,100m - team member of successful (I made it to camp I - 4,400m) winter expedition to the peak in Cirin Valley, Hazara.
  • 2006 - Mingleeg Ser 6,050m - failed solo attempt on the most famous peak in Shimshal.

Trekking Highlights

  • First non-Shimshali person on the planet to have crossed Shimshal Pass 4,700m twice (2006summer & 2014winter) & Shpoadeen Pass 5,350m thrice (2008 & 2015summer & 2010autumn) and an expert on treks & expeditions in Shimshal.
  • 2013 - Mohandis Pass 5,350m in Khunjerav National Park.
  • 2011 – Meeranjani – first ever winter night ascent of the 3,300m trekking peak near NathiaGali, KP
  • 2005 - Mintika Pass 4,700m – first Pakistani trekking party to the original silk route in Gojal.

Projects & Achievements

  • Roll of Honor for my services rendered as President Dramatics Club of GC University [Lahore] for organizing, producing and acting in three plays and a drama festival within the span of a single academic year. (2004-2005)
  • Certificate of Distinguished Services for Captaining GC University's Hiking & Mountaineering Team to K2 Base Camp for the Golden Jubilee Celebrations in 2004 marking the first accent to the summit of K2.
  • Lead Mime Artist in Shah Sharahbeel’s Phantom of the Opera staged at PNCA - Islamabad in 2008.
