== Table direction? ==

Would the feature table not be more appropriate with clients down the left and features at the top? This would allow more clients to be added more easily as well as making it sortable.

Oracle

metalink means to me Oracle's web based support (metalink ). Could we/should we have a disambiguation page? Idg555 19:56, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's mentioned now. --logixoul 20:23, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Where'd that go? Yes, Oracle has changed the title of their support site but in practice it's still generically referred to as Metalink. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.32.132.46 (talk) 17:53, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've created a homepage closely related to metalinks called metamirrors. This site can automatically generate metalinks by downloading hashfile information from the different mirrors and connecting them in the database. This is the first, fully automated and totally open service for automatic mirroring on the internet and it doesn't require a special kind of client to use it.

Would it be appropriate to mention metamirrors.nl as an external link at the end of this article?

Sorry, no, it's non-notable. You can submit it to dmoz.org or ask the metalinker.org webmaster to link to you. ;) --logixoul 20:23, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comparison table annotations?

What do the "location", OS, and Language rows in the comparison table refer to? The first even has quotes around it, but no explanation. I initially though OS referred to "Open Source", but it does not (the Speed Download and wxDownload columns are reversed for that), and it would have been unnecessary in that case anyway since the License row covers it. It's not "Operating System" either, since that's covered by the "Runs on..." rows. If Language is supposed to refer to whether localizations exist, please say that instead of something that could be interpreted as implementation programming language. --24.85.167.100 20:37, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

location is information about mirrors. If the client supports it, you can filter downloads by location. OS (Operating System) and language can be specified for each file and you can filter a download by those as well. Antini 20:24, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Aria2

On Aria2.sf.net, it says aria2 supports metalink v.3, is there a reason why my edit about its support was reverted to "no" by Antini, http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Metalink&diff=111594776&oldid=111078615? Sir Vicious 05:06, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

aria2 supports Metalink 3, but #!metalink3! is a way of "piggybacking" a link to a .metalink file onto a normal link to a file. aria2 doesn't support that AFAIK, only the GUI clients do. Antini 07:01, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Online conversion

Is there any online tool to convert html links in a html file in a metalink file ?. It would be very usefull.--Mac (talk) 08:20, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

magnet

What is better with metalink than with a manget link? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.75.207.248 (talk) 17:11, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In the Metalink client feature comparison other downloaders such as jdownloader should also be included. (````) —Preceding unsigned comment added by VIV0411 (talkcontribs) 14:34, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WP:WEB, why?

I don't think the WP:WEB notice is appropriate here. Metalink is not "web content". It is a technology useful for synchronizing files with distributed sources. — Frigoris (talk) 10:03, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
