The SAR-21 is also the first production assualt rifle of its class to incorporate a built-in laser aiming device as standard. The SAR-21 incorporates various patented safety features. One such feature is a kelvar cheek plate that protects the shooter in case of the unlikely event of a chamber explosion. The SAR-21 has an integral 1.5x optical scope that is built into its carrying handle. The scope is factory zeroed and so does away with the need of zero-ing. It also aids in target aquisition under low light conditions.

SAR-21

The SAR-21 is an indegeniously built bullpup assault rifle from Singapore. First revealed and subsequently adopted by the Singapore Armed Forces in 1999, it replaced the locally built M-16A1, designated M-16S1. Made of a rugged, high impact polymer, it uses a modified Kalashnikov/ Stoner operating system, boosting high reliability and low recoil.

Variants

SAR-21 Light Machine Gun (LMG) Fitted with an open bolt. It has a heavy 508mm barrel with an intergral folding bipod.

SAR-21 Sharpshooter Same as basic SAR-21, but has 3.5x optical sight instead of standard 1.5x sight.

SAR-21 Grenade Launcher (GL) Attached with a 40mm GL or M203 launcher, and incorporates an aiming quardrant for grenade target aquisition.

SAR-21 P-rail Has a Picatinny rail in place of its integral optical site. Charging handle is moved to the left hand side of the weapon.

SAR-21 Modular Mounting System (MMS) Has integral optical side and LAM removed to allow a wide variety of add-on tactical accessories, such as vertical assualt grips, tactical lights and reflex sights. Charging handle is moved to the left hand side of the weapon.
