The International Society for Stereology & Image Analysis (ISSIA) is an international scientific society whose purpose is to encourage the development and dissemination of knowledge in stereology and image analysis in a wide range of disciplines. Founded in 1961. Although the Society is currently based in Chech Republic, it is an international organization.

Organization

The society is active in all fields of stereology, which is an interdisciplinary field of research concerned with the threedimensional interpretation of lower dimensional samples of materials or tissues. It utilizes random, systematic sampling to provide unbiased and quantitative data from microscopic images.

Activities

The society is organizing conferecnes, workshops and meetings. Its members have several benefints:

• Subscription to the printed version of the open-access official ISSIA journal Image Analysis & Stereology (https://www.ias-iss.org/ojs/IAS/)

• Reduced publication fees in Image Analysis & Stereology

• Reduced rates at congresses, courses and workshops organized by ISSIA

• Possibility for student members to apply for Hans Elias bursaries enabling participation in ISSIA Congresses for Stereology and Image Analysis
