Revision as of 16:57, 12 October 2006

In my time as a Wikipedian, I've welcomed hundreds of users. I believe welcoming new users is highly important because it provides them with the support and links they really need and enables them to make longer and better edits and contributions to Wikipedia.

If you've seen me welcoming you, or someone you know, please comment about it here. Don't be afraid to ask questions, I'll be happy to answer.

Thank you for the welcome

Thank you for the welcome. I am still unsure how to sign my name. Can you tell me if I'm doing it right? Apple9 16:32, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You can sign your name using four ~'s, thank you. Michaelas10 16:34, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
How do you change your signature so it looks more colorful? Apple9 16:36, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
To change your signature, go to your preferences page and change the "Signature" form. To change your signature color, put the HTML tag for text color in the beginning of signature and close it at its end. Michaelas10 16:49, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the welcome from me too! Nastaliq 16:39, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. Michaelas10 16:49, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to add my appreciation as well. --Tailkinker 21:15, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Me too, me too. Rowenlemming 14:39, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you actually look at what a newbie is doing before you welcome them? This guy, Rowenlemming was clearly in need of being pushed gently towards his own wiki instead of being welcomed. -- RHaworth 16:01, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not investigating every user I welcome, I've looked at his contributions and it seems that he didn't vandalise so he does worth a welcome, like many other new users. Michaelas10 (T|C) 16:18, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ehh.. I really like to welcome people. Michaelas10 17:14, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

Thanks Michaelas10. I have already been toying a lot in Wikipedia in other languages, so I think I can manage. I'm now rereadng a French book so I can give an exact excerpt. HandigeHarry 17:23, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning the Youth Foundation...

Thanks for the introductory message! You know, there are quite a bit of young wikipedians including myself. I'd be a great idea to start a youth group. Give it some thought... Cool! Just visited the Youth Foundation project page! Sr13 07:56, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adding references

Thank u for your guidelines to edit pages. I would like to work more on Malayalam literature. Can I use the Malayalam books and Malayalam web links as reference to prove the credibility? Meeracmusic 05:11, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the basic format for adding references is using <ref>{{cite web|url=URL|title=TITLE}}</ref> for webpages and <ref>AUTHOR YEAR TITLE PAGE</ref> for books, see citing cources for more information. Michaelas10 (T|C) 09:44, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

uh...

dude, you might notice that my first contribution was about two years ago. When was yours? --ollee 15:26, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry it took so long, see the reason above for why I welcomed you. My first edit was on April 16, 2006. Michaelas10 (T|C) 15:28, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

jesus christ--ollee 23:22, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're a nice guy, I must say.

Heh, I was actually wondering if the welcome was just a generic automated process. WVI 16:17, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, it wasn't. I did it using a thing called welcome template. Michaelas10 (T|C) 16:24, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
