Olga Poliektova (born 1985) is a Russian animator, illustrator and film director, mostly working together with her twin sister Tatiana Poliektova and best known for short animation film My Grandfather Was a Cherry Tree.
Career
Olga graduated from St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television in 2008. Olga (together with Tatiana) created several short animation films including Tomato story, Inspiration, Noise, I see you, Quagga, Warm Liguria and My Grandfather Was a Cherry Tree.
In 2014 Olga and Tatiana were on the jury of the Lucania Film Festival.
Their short animation film My Grandfather Was a Cherry Tree won the Animated Short 2nd Place Award at the Giffoni Film Festival (2015) [1] and the Best Animated Short Jury Award at the New York International Children's Film Festival (2016), together with 33 other awards, and was included into the long list for 2017 Oscars nomination [2].
