The building looks like a fortress camp of ancient tower. The front of this building is the shrine of King Chulalongkorn with Thai army standing in military uniform. The army field marshals’ names are engraved one by one from the marble within historic buildings and military museum. There are various activities inside.

The Thai National Memorial was built on the occasion of the 200th Anniversary of the Rattanakosin celebration as a memorial to the Great King in the past, and the Thai people who sacrificed their lives for the nation.The memorial is located in Khu Khot sub-district where Vibhavadi Rangsit Road and Phahonyothin Road are connected.

Objective

1. To commemorate the sacrifices for the nation and inscribe the brave men to remember them forever.

2. It is a place to show the history of the heroic and important battle events.

3. This is a reminder to the public of the past and the effect on the security of the National Institute of Religion and the King.

4. A place to study, learn and relax for the public.

Showcase

Thai national memorial is separated into 5 sections

1.    The ceremonial Ground

It is a space for the Honor Guard or national and international visitors to the National Monument. This is also used to place wreaths in various ceremonial ceremonies on the ground decorated with the flags of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, the flag of the Royal Thai Police and flag of the Volunteer Guard. The side is adorned with the Thai flag and with the national flag of a visitor.

2.    The ceremonial Building

The building was completed in November 1990 that separated into 4 floors

Floor 1: The Hall of Honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. To commend the honor and heroism of the military, police and brave civilian combatants that have been awarded the honorable medal Ramathibodi and brave medals to encourage the younger generation to remember and showcase models of modern warfare in the Thai military who have fought in a major battle.

  • World War 1 simulation event : The Thai troops parade through the archway in Paris
  • Indochina dispute simulation Battle of Koh Chang
  •   Pacific War simulation event : Flying Squadron 5
  • Korean War simulation event  :Battle of Pork Chop Hill
  •   Vietnam War simulation event : The war in the Vietnam forest

Floor 2: The glass wall around the balcony was inscribed with the brave men who had died from the battle.

Floor 3: 14 models of historical events

Floor 4: Uniform display mark ranks and the components of the military uniform.

  • Display of uniform costumes by showmanship and illustrations are divided into 6 exhibitions: Early Sukhothai period, Sukhothai period, Ayutthaya period, Thonburi period, early Rattanakosin period and nowadays including 15 models
  • Display of components of the uniform, such as the front of the shoulder strap, marking the buttons and marks
  • Display models as real people are fully dressed by 4 models: Army, Naval, Air force and Police.
  • Data presentation with computational and videotape apparatus. Mark ranks and the costumes of the military police from past to present.

4. Exclusive Building for Panoramic Display

The building is octagonal. The inner wall is curved in a circle. The painting is 4.30 meters high, 90 meters long. It was done by Mr. Preecha Tha-ngong, a national artist, with students from Silpakorn University and Rangsit University to show the historical events of Thailand from past to present to represent the wisdom of the king. It includes the sacrifices of the ancestors. It is dedicated to protecting and preserving national independence.

The painting is separated into 10 parts, which are arranged by era.

  • 1st Independence and Salvage independence
  • Civilization
  • 2nd Independence
  • 2nd salvage independence and Established the capital of Thonburi
  • Established the capital of Rattanakosin
  • Song kram kao thap (Nine Army War )
  • Rescued from colonization
  • Entering a new era

5. Outdoor museum and Landscape Architecture

To arrange and decorate the outside area which is separated into 2 parts:

5.1 Outdoor museum

  • Multi-functional area
  • The fence is located between Vibhavadi Rangsit Road and  Phaholyothin Road and the side is attached to a private land
  • Guardroom (4 sides of entrance and exit )

5.2 Landscape Architecture
