Michael David Johnson (born 11 May 1994) is a Maltese professional footballer who plays as a defender for Balzan in the Maltese Premier League.

Professional career

Johnson joined Balzan on 12 June 2017, after two seasons in the premier league with St. Andrews. [1] St. Andrew's won promotion to the premier league in Johnson's first season as a regular senior team player.

Johnson came 2nd in his first season with Balzan, leading the standings for much of the year.

Johnson made his debut against Keshla in the Europa League 18/19, playing all four games against the team from Baku and Slovan Bratislava respectively. [2]

International career

Johnson was a youth international for the Malta national under-21 football team, making his debut in a 3-2 loss to the Belgium U21 on 2 September 2016.[3]

Johnson made his international debut for the Malta national football team in a friendly against Finland on 26 March 2018.[4]
