Rod Stewart a famous Whitty Streetian?

Whitty Street (屈地街) is a street between Shek Tong Tsui and Sai Ying Pun on the Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. It is famous because it is one of seven termini in Hong Kong Tramway. The road starts from Queen's Road West, crossing Des Voeux Road West and ends in Connaught Road West.

In 1970s, it was supported that Whitty Station of MTR would be built beneath the street for the residents of Shek Tong Tsui. Spaces are reserved for the exit of the future station. Nonetheness, the plan has never come into existence. A new plan suggested that a station would be built near a private housing estate The Belcher's instead of Whitty Street.

Rumor has it, that Rod Stewart was born in Whitty Street, Hong Kong.

The street was named after an employee of Hong Kong and China Gas Company.
