One of the biggest Ukrainian winter sports centers, located in western part of the country, south of Lwow. Slawsko lies in Eastern Bieszczady range, which is part of the Carpathian Mountains, close to the town of Skole.

Slawsko’s history of winter sports center as well as a spa goes back to the 19th century, when it was part of Galicia - province of Austria-Hungary. Austrians built here some hostels, and after 1918, when the town became part of Poland, it was a very popular center, attended mostly by tourists from nearby metropolis of Lwow. Between 1919 and 1939 several ski lifts and ski platforms were built in Slawsko and its vicinity, most of them on the Pohar mountain.

The town is conveniently located on an important rail line which connects Ukrainian cities with Uzhorod as well as Slovakia and Hungary.
