The 2005 United States Grand Prix was notable for the farce created when 14 of the 20 cars withdrew before the race start due to problems with their Michelin tyres, after Ferrari had refused to allow a chicane to be installed at the final corner - the only team to prevent the required unanimity from being achieved.
