Girasole is the fourth studio album by the Italian singer Giorgia and was released in 1999.
Description
The title track was released as the third single from the album, and due to its fresh and summery sound, was played heavily on the radio. Other popular songs released from the album were Tradirefare and Parlami d'amore, as well as a new version of the song Il cielo in una stanza – a song by Gino Paoli and made famous by Mina in 1960.
The album was fresh and catchy, despite being experimental in its production – moving from various genres, from Italian pop and American soul, to rock and hip hop.
The song lyrics were almost entirely written by Giorgia and Adriano Pennino, who dealt with the arrangements. However the album also boasted several collaborations: Alex Baroni, writer of the lyrics for the song È la verità; Diane Warren who wrote the music for Parlami d'amore (from the song Listen with your heart); and Des'ree, who wrote the music for the track Se ci sei. The Solis String Quartet played the string intro track Ho voglia di ricominciare (into) R.O.L. and in the songs Tradirefare, Dicembre, Voglio solo te, Se ci sei and Il cielo in una stanza '99.
