Wrong Kind of Black is a 4-part web series created by the Aboriginal Australian author, storyteller, and inaugural Australian Children's Laureate (2012–2013), Boori Monty Pryor, directed by Catriona McKenzie.[1][2] It is based on his life and experiences growing up in Northern Melbourne.

It first aired on Australia's ABC iView back in August 2018. The series was picked up on November 6, 2020 by Netflix for International distribution.[3]

Reception

The series received accolades in The Guardian for its sense of humour, handling of issues surrounding racial violence, and scripting.[4] It was nominated for an International Emmy Award for Best Short Form Series.[5]
