The Texas Heartbeat Act, also known as Senate Bill 8 or SB 8, is an Act of the Texas Legislature. The law bans abortion after six weeks of pregnancy.
Background
Governor Greg Abbott signed the Bill into law on May 19, 2021.[1] The Act went into effect on September 1, 2021.[2]
