Mirza Hameedullah Beg (born on 22 February 1913 in Lucknow) (M J Beg) was Chief Justice of India from January 1977 to February 1978.

Family

He was born into a prominent Muslim family in Hyderabad. His father Mirza Samiullah Beg was the Chief Justice of Hyderabad State.

Education

He was educated at St. George's Summer School, Hyderabad (Deccan) where he obtained a godal medal for securing first position in Senior Cambridge H.S.L.C. Examination. He joined Trinity College and Cambridge University in 1931, and obtained Honours in Archeaological and Anthropological and Historical Triposes. He studied law, economics and politics at the London School of Economics. He joined the bar through the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn. He was called to the Bar in England in 1941.
