Route description
Operation
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 67 bus operates seven days a week; service begins at 5 a.m. on weekdays. 6 a.m. on Saturdays and 8 a.m. on Sundays. Service is in operation until 11 p.m. Unfortunately, service has no corresponding overnight Owl bus line when service is not in operation during midnight. Frequency is every 20 minutes, and may be longer than 20 minutes if the bus is delayed.
History
Former line
The initial routing of the 67 line was nearly identical to the defunct bus route, the 23 Crescent. The 23 Crescent was defunct after parts of the 9 Richland, 13 Ellsworth, and 23 Crescent lines were combined to form the 67 line.[citation needed]
The 2005 Version of the 67 line
The 67 line used to operate a "Clockwise" / "Counterclockwise" and "inbound" / "outbound" service together. The "Clockwise" & "Counterclockwise" service was later defunct in the late-2000s.[1]
Clockwise routing description
The Clockwise route is also known as Inbound GOLD Loop, this route would first snake through today's current outbound route until it reaches Ellsworth and Crescent. Then, the 67 pairs up to it's Counterclockwise route for a while. This route will loop back to Crescent via Alemany and Ellsworth streets. From Ellsworth to Crescent, the Clockwise & Counterclockwise routes would split. The Clockwise follow along on the 23 Monterey's journey until it reaches Mission. From Crescent to Mission, the 23 and 67 split paths; the 67 will travel northbound on Mission until it reaches Valencia. From Mission to Valencia, it would continue traveling northbound following the 12 Folsom/Pacific routing until it reaches the southwest corner of the 24th and Mission BART station entrance and terminates.
Counterclockwise routing description
The Counterclockwise route is also known as Outbound RED Loop. From the 24th and Mission stop, this route would travel southbound on Mission until it reaches Crescent. From Mission to Crescent, it would follow along on the 23 Monterey's journey traveling eastbound on Crescent until it reaches Alemany. From Crescent to Alemany, the 23 and 67 would split paths; the 67 then pairs up with it's Clockwise route for a while. This route will loop back to Crescent via Alemany and Ellsworth streets. From Crescent and Ellsworth, Clockwise & Counterclockwise routes would split. The Counterclockwise route would follow today's inbound routing until it reaches the northeast corner of the 24th and Mission BART station entrance and terminates.
COVID-19
Service was suspended on April 8, 2020 due to the COVID-19 cases increasing rapidly.[2] Service resumed on August 22, 2020, with modified service hours beginning at 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Especially on weekends.[3]
Bus stop listing
Inbound has 19 stops; outbound has 25 stops. Most bus stops on this list are a few feet away from the curb, so people usually have to board the bus on the street.
