Miller is a city in Lawrence County, Missouri, United States. The population was 754 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²), all land.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 754 people, 323 households, and 207 families residing in the city. The population density was 383.1/km² (995.8/mi²). There were 378 housing units at an average density of 192.0/km² (499.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.01% White, 0.13% African American, 0.27% Native American, 0.13% from other races, and 1.46% from two or more races. There were 323 households out of which 31.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.1% were married couples living together, 11.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.9% were non-families. 34.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.33 and the average family size was 2.98.

In the city the population was spread out with 27.1% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 98.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.3 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $24,722, and the median income for a family was $32,222. Males had a median income of $26,000 versus $17,768 for females. The per capita income for the city was $12,680. About 17.0% of families and 20.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 28.8% of those under age 18 and 15.9% of those age 65 or over.
