Screenshot licenses

Hi Jasper124c41. You put up very nice screenshots for Kaleidica! But you must be careful with the licenses. First of all, the cover of the software has the wrong license. It is not a game. I've fixed its license.

Second of all SunsetCollage1.jpg has many problems with it. For one, you would not call that image a screenshot - you would call it a work and must release it under a free license like:

I, the copyright holder of this work, hereby publish it under the following licenses:
You may select the license of your choice.

Second of all, this particular image not be used on Wikipedia, even if the company allows you to; that is an invalid license. You must place the proper tag on it saying it must be deleted, or you must make your own work of art with the program, replace the exact file, and put on the proper license (such as the example I put up above). I hope this is helpful. Althepal 06:16, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much, Althepal; I'm relatively new to Wikipedia and I really enjoy the collaborative, helpful environment. I will have the creator of the image license its use. I'm glad that Wikipedia is so fastidious in its licenses, I see that this helps it from lawsuits/censordom. Once again, thank you. Jasper124c41 06:37, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
All right. :) Be sure it's done soon lest somebody tag it for deletion. And remember that a screenshot of your own picture is not a "screenshot" if you remove any and all parts showing elements of a proprietary program -- it is a work of art. A screenshot will show how the interface of the program looks. Like is a free license screenshot of an open source program. And this one (I hope I'm allowed to use it in a talk page) is a fair use license screenshot (fair use is more restrictions) of a proprietary program. Althepal 06:45, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot, I think I have it all fixed up now. I'm glad to have that cleared up.Jasper124c41 06:52, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
