Ange Capuozzo (born 30 April 1999) is a professional rugby union player who plays as a full-back for FC Grenoble.[1][2] Born in Le Pont-de-Claix, in the outskirts of Grenoble, France, to Italian father and a mother from Madagascar, he plays internationally for Italy.[3]

Playing career

In 2019, Capuozzo was named in the Italy U20 squad. On the 14 October 2021, he was selected by Fabio Roselli to be part of an Italy A 28-man squad for the 2021 end-of-year rugby union internationals.[4] On 24 January 2022, he was selected by Kieran Crowley to be part of an Italy squad for the 2022 Six Nations Championship. Capuozzo made his senior debut for Italy in the Six Nations game against Scotland on 12 March, scoring two tries.[5][6] In his second appearance for Italy, and in the last round of the 2022 Six Nations against Wales, Capuozzo made a last-minute run from behind the Italian ten-metre line, breaking a tackle before passing to Edoardo Padovani inside the twenty-two metre line. Padovani scored the try, which was converted. Italy won the match 21–22.[7] It was Italy's first win against Wales since 2007 and ended a thirty-six game losing streak in the Six Nations Championship.[8] Despite Wales' Josh Adams being awarded Player of the Match on the 77th minute, Adams later presented the medal to Capuozzo after the game.[9]
