TALKAM

TALKAM is an initiative of Devatop Centre for Africa Development and an online human rights hub that offers different informations and data base information on human trafficking and human rights for community members, organizations, development experties, human rights activists, law enforcement agents, and government agencies.[1]

Advocacy Training

The government of United States of America has pledged to support Nigeria agencies on fighting modern day slavery and human trafficking and smuggling of migrants. During an event hosted by the US Embassy in Abuja in collaboration with DEVALOP center for African development "TALKAM" human right project which themed as "Improving awareness on human trafficking and Increasing reportage of cases.[2] Talkam(Abuja) Human Rights Advocacy Group trained 72 Nigerians across the 36 states on strategies for combating Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in their various states to increase reportage, documentation and responses to human rights abuses using technology tools. The training was aimed at building a sustainable movement human abuses[3].

Mobile App and cases

the TALKAM mobile application offers a variety of information and data on abuse of children and women for community members, organizations, development experts, human rights activists, law enforcement agents, and government agencies. Those with more technical interest can read the Alerts, Surveys, Analysis, and Bulletins. Can also be used to make complain of any case of Trafficking. the talkam mobile app is available on google play store.[4] Since the beginning of the year 2020, TALKAM has recorded over 70 human rights cases, and have been able to responded to over 30 cases.

Components of TALKAM

Alerts: (Provides up-to-date information about different human trafficking activities affecting the community at large. Provide timely information about current human trafficking issues, vulnerabilities, and exploits in Nigeria.)

Bulletins: (Provide monthly summaries of current human trafficking incidences, activities, and events in Human Trafficking Bullen in Nigeria

Survey Report: (This provides update or report of surveys, research, or polls conducted on issues around human trafficking, irregular migration, and gender-based violence)

Analysis: (Yearly analysis of human trafficking, irregular migration and gender-based violence in Nigeria.)[5]

"TALKAM RADIO" is becoming an household name, TALKAM is is an advocacy pidgin English program on cool FM 96.9, WAZOBIA 99.5, and KU FM every Saturday and Sundays at 5PM[6][7]
