Guaracha, otherwise known as zapateo or aleteo, is a electronic genre from Medellin Colombia. [1]The genre has no connection to the guaracha of Cuba. The genre is relatively new, as it began in the 2010s when Colombian DJs influenced by various electronic genres among them Medellín’s Víctor Cárdenas and New York City’s DJ Pereira, began looking within their own culture for inspiration. This eventual lead to eventually taking the festive trumpets , tambora drums and accordions of traditional cumbia arrangements ,(all from the Caribbean region of Colombia) and mixing them into club-music.[2]
