Original – Indonesian journalist and man of letters Mochtar Lubis, photographed during a trip to the Netherlands in 1979. Lubis, the author of such books as Tiger! and Twilight in Jakarta, was arrested several times by both the Sukarno and Suharto governments for his journalism. His newspaper, Indonesia Raya, was one of the ones shut down after the Malari incident.
Reason
I'll be honest, I squeed when I saw this pop up on my watchlist. Lubis is one of my favourite Indonesian authors (his diction is influenced by his career in journalism, making it easy to read, and Tiger! is a masterpiece study of sin, superstition, and guilt). The image is darn good too, especially now that I've fly-specked it a bit.
