Elsa Oskaria Jernås Bacarisas (September 10, 1895 [1] - December 1979 [2]) was a Swedish graphic artist, painter and costume designer born in Masthuggs Parish, Gothenburg. She was married to Gibraltarian painter Gustavo Bacarisa.[3]
She studied art at the Handicraft Association's school in Gothenburg and after her studies was active as a costume designer at various theaters in Gothenburg and Stockholm, including the Royal Theater, where she met her future husband in connection with the staging of Carmen in 1922.[4] After her marriage, she settled in Seville. She exhibited separately with about fifty works in Barcelona in 1926. Her art consists of landscapes from Sweden and Spain made in charcoal drawings, oil, watercolor and lithograph.
