Hasim Sharif Rahman Jr.[1] (born June 15, 1991) is an American professional boxer. The son of former professional boxer and heavyweight champion, Hasim Rahman, Rahman Jr. has challenged for the WBC USNBC heavyweight championship.[2]
Early Life
Hasim Sharif Rahman Jr. was born on 15 June 1991 in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of Crystal Simpson Rahman and Hasim Rahman.[3] Rahman Jr. went to Bishop Gorman High School for his further education. He completed his high school graduation from Durango High School. Afterward, he enrolled himself at Northern Michigan University for a bachelor’s degree in 2009.[4]
Professional career
After over 100 amateur fights, Rahman made his professional boxing debut on 14 April 2017.[5] He started his career with three wins via TKO. In 2021 Rahman fought three times, with two fights ending via some knockout. His last fight in April 2022, was a TKO loss at the hands of James McKenzie Morrison, the son of former professional boxer, Tommy Morrison, for the WBC USNBC heavyweight title.[6]
Rahman Jr. is set to face Jake Paul on 6 August 6 2022 at Jake Paul vs. Hasim Rahman Jr in Madison Square Garden.[7]
Personal Life
Rahman Jr. resides in Las Vegas, Nevada. He has a brother named Sharif Rahman and who is also a boxer. The names of his siblings include Mo Harris, Amirah Rahman, and Quintin Dailey. Rahman Jr. is a practicing Muslim and has frequently refused gambling and bets due to his beliefs.[8]
In 2013, Rahman Jr. was involved in a car accident that resulted in the death of a driver. He was sentenced to three years in prison for reckless driving. He was released on 21 December 2016.[9]
In 2014, Rahman Jr. and his brother filed a lawsuit alleging 14 different claims against Floyd Mayweather Jr. which came after an incident that involved Rahmar Jr's brother getting a serious beating from amateur Donovan Cameron while Mayweather watched what was supposed to be a sparring session and prevented the people present from breaking up the fight.[10]
