Dr. P. Shyama Raju (born 6 January 1950) is an Indian entrepreneur, philanthropist, and an educationist based in Bengaluru, Karnataka. He is the chairman and managing director of DivyaSree Developers Pvt. Ltd, chairman at Rukmini Educational Charitable Trust, and the chancellor of REVA University, Bengaluru.[1][2][3] He holds prominent positions and memberships in reputed institutions across India. He is also on the board of many companies in the field of infrastructure development, charitable institutions and welfare trusts. In 2017, the Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri Siddaramaiah awarded him the Karnataka Rajyotsava award.[2][3]

Early life and education

He attended school at Athimanjeri Pet and studied his collegiate years at SGS Arts College, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, graduating with a Degree in Commerce.

Business career

P. Shyama Raju founded his pilot project DivyaSree Chambers.[4] DivyaSree is a commercial property developer, especially in metros like Bengaluru and Hyderabad.[5] It was presented with the NDTV Property awards 2016 for Luxury villa project of the year.[6]

As a philanthropic gesture of give back to society what you earn from society, Dr Shyama Raju founded the REVA Group of Educational Institutions under Rukmini Educational Charitable Trust. The vision of the Trust is to establish and provide a global standard of education to the aspiring youth of the country in higher education. The Group moved into the highest realm of education with the Karnataka Government inviting the Trust to start REVA University in Bengaluru.[7]

Motto

A consistent facilitator of knowledge and education, his sole purpose in life is to ensure that REVA University empowers learners with enough knowledge that will enable them to create opportunities and build a better society. The very motto of REVA University, ‘Knowledge is Power’, is worn like a badge of honour by all at REVA. A visionary, Shyama Raju is a builder of careers and one who peddles dreams for those who are inclined and ambitious.

One of the beliefs that Dr. P. Shyama Raju propounds is ‘To labour is to pray.’ A grounded man, who never forgets his humble beginnings, Dr. P. Shyama Raju is an amicable and approachable personality. ‘A true leader must be able to empathize with every level of society’ and he has perfectly done just that. He has proven the popular adage that ‘Ideas are bulletproof’ to be true and his legacy shall remain till the end of time.
