Kamen Rider Geats (仮面ライダーギーツ, Kamen Raidā Gītsu) is a Japanese tokusatsu drama. It is the 33rd entry in the Kamen Rider franchise and the fourth series of the Reiwa period.

Desire Grand Prix

The "Desire Grand Prix" (デザイアグランプリ, Dezaia Guran Puri) is a virtual reality-based survival game where players protect the city from the threat of a mysterious enemy called "Jyamato", whose origin and purpose are unknown, and compete to win the game by defeating enemies and saving people. But once a chosen participant accepts becoming a Kamen Rider, they are bound by the game's rules to continue playing until they are killed in action and are removed from reality.[1][2] It's also revealed that divulging the existence of the Desire Grand Prix to third parties would result in disqualification and elimination, along with Kamen Riders not allowed to attack each other unless there is an exception from certain circumstances.[2]

Each participant carries a Spider Phone (スパイダーフォン, Supaidā Fon), which can switch between Phone Mode (フォンモード, Fon Mōdo) and Spider Mode (スパイダーモード, Supaidā Mōdo), and is equipped with a Desire Driver (デザイアドライバー, Dezaia Doraibā) belt, which can combine with a small button-like ID Core (IDコア, Ai Dī Koa)[a] to transform the user into a base Entry Form (エントリーフォーム, Entorī Fōmu) Kamen Rider. The Riders can also equip one or two Raise Buckles to gain additional armors, with a series of possible combinations.[1] The participants must defeat a Jyamato who has a Mission Box (ミッシオンボックス, Misshion Bokkusu) to acquire a lesser Raise Buckle while defeating a stronger and rare Jyamato awards them with a special Raise Buckle that allows them to equip new armors.[3]

Ace Ukiyo

Ace Ukiyo (浮世 英寿, Ukiyo Ēsu) is a mysterious man with an undefeated streak who became a "Desire Deity" (デザ神, Deza Shin) after winning the previous Desire Grand Prix, becoming a famous celebrity in the reset timeline. He participates in the current Desire Grand Prix with its expanded roster of chosen participants for an unknown motive.[4][1]

Ace can transform into the kitsune-themed Kamen Rider Geats, whose primary Form Raise Buckles are Magnum and Boost that he can use to assume either his default Magnum Boost Form (マグナムブーストフォーム, Magunamu Būsuto Fōmu) or his alternate Boost Magnum Form (ブーストマグナムフォーム, Būsuto Magunamu Fōmu).

Ace Ukiyo is portrayed by Hideyoshi Kan (簡 秀吉, Kan Hideyoshi).[4]

Keiwa Sakurai

Keiwa Sakurai (桜井 景和, Sakurai Keiwa) is the main viewpoint character of the show. He is a job-hunting university student who lives with his older sister. He is a very passive and caring person, albeit a little bit naive. His desire is "World peace", ever since volunteered previous non-profit organizations on doing green activities.[4][1][3]

Keiwa can transform into the tanuki-themed Kamen Rider Tycoon (仮面ライダータイクーン, Kamen Raidā Taikūn).[4][1][3]

Keiwa Sakurai is portrayed by Ryuga Sato (佐藤 瑠雅, Satō Ryūga).[4]

Neon Kurama

Neon Kurama (鞍馬 祢音, Kurama Neon) is the only daughter of a wealthy and strict family and a social media influencer who desires to find a decent lover who can help her live a normal life peacefully. She is protected by foreign bodyguards hired by her abusive mother Irumi (伊瑠美).[4][1][2]

Neon can transform into the cat-themed Kamen Rider Na-Go (仮面ライダーナーゴ, Kamen Raidā Nāgo).[4][3]

Neon Kurama is portrayed by Yuna Hoshino (星乃 夢奈, Hoshino Yuna).[4] As a child, Neon is portrayed by Natsuki Matsuoka (松岡 夏輝, Matsuoka Natsuki).

Michinaga Azuma

Michinaga Azuma (吾妻 道長, Azuma Michinaga) is an ambitious, yet honorable construction worker and a runner-up of the previous Desire Grand Prix who desires to surpass Ace Ukiyo, whom he considers a rival.[4][1]

Michinaga can transform into the water buffalo-themed Kamen Rider Buffa (仮面ライダーバッファ, Kamen Raidā Baffa), whose primary Form Raise Buckle is Zombie that he uses to assume Zombie Form (ゾンビフォーム, Zonbi Fōmu).[4][1]

Michinaga Azuma is portrayed by Kazuto Mokudai (杢代 和人, Mokudai Kazuto).[4]

Minor Players

Takahito Taira

Takahito Taira (平 孝人, Taira Takahito) is the director of human resources of an IT company that Keiwa interviewed for while job searching, joining the current Desire Grand Prix to gain his desire to save his sickly son. Although Keiwa’s desire for world peace did not fit his IT company, Taira is joyful by the former’s future dream. Taira crosses paths with Keiwa during the first round and is fatally wounded fighting a Jyamato, dying with regret in Keiwa's arms, though Ace grants Taira's wish for his son to recover.[5][1][3]

Taira can transform into the penguin-themed Kamen Rider Ginpen (仮面ライダーギンペン, Kamen Raidā Ginpen).[5][3]

Takahito Taira is portrayed by Tomoharu Hasegawa (長谷川 朝晴, Hasegawa Tomoharu).[5]

Takeshi Goutokuji

Takeshi Goutokuji (豪徳寺 武, Gōtokuji Takeshi) is a firefighter and one of the three finalists of the previous Desire Grand Prix. Goutokuji is killed by the Slug Fortress Jyamato after he and Michinaga saved Keiwa and Neon from a Pawn Jyamato army.[5][1]

Goutokuji can transform into the polar bear-themed Kamen Rider Shirowe (仮面ライダーシロー, Kamen Raidā Shirō).[5][1]

Takeshi Goutokuji is portrayed by Yamato Kinjo (金城 大和, Kinjō Yamato).[5]

Morio Koganeya

Morio Koganeya (小金屋 森魚, Koganeya Morio) is a playboy.[5][3]

Koganeya can transform into the sheep-themed Kamen Rider Mary (仮面ライダーメリー, Kamen Raidā Merī).[5][3]

Morio Koganeya is portrayed by Koji Abe (あべ こうじ, Abe Kōji).[5]

Kanato Sumida

Kanato Sumida (墨田 奏斗, Sumida Kanato) is a high school student, who used to be an aspiring basketball player until a traffic accident injured his leg and caused him to quit basketball. Ever since that accident, he became a manipulative misanthropist who keeps to himself with his desire being "A world where humanity is extinct". During the first zombie round of the Desire Grand Prix, Kanato is infected by a Zombie Jyamato while not being mindful of his surroundings. This gives Kanato zombie status as he justifies his potential elimination to freely attack the other Kamen Riders, targeting Neon.[5][3][2] But it not only resulted in him losing points when he attacked Morio while the other Kamen Riders who attack him are not penalized, Kanato is disqualified due to putting his obsession to eliminate his competition over saving civilians.[6]

Kanato can transform into the panda-themed Kamen Rider Da·Paan (仮面ライダーダパーン, Kamen Raidā Dapān).[5][3] He is an expert at long distance attacks and sniping, using the Magnum Raise Buckle to assume Magnum Form (マグナムフォーム, Magunamu Fōmu).

Kanato Sumida is portrayed by Ryunosuke Miyamoto (宮本 龍之介, Miyamoto Ryūnosuke).[5]

Tsumuri

Tsumuri (ツムリ) is an AI navigator of the Desire Grand Prix, who provides the players with equipment and information.[4][1]

Tsumuri is portrayed by Kokoro Aoshima (青島 心, Aoshima Kokoro).[4]

Girori

Girori (ギロリ) is the salon concierge of the Desire Grand Prix.[4][1]

Girori is portrayed by Shugo Oshinari (忍成 修吾, Oshinari Shūgo).[4]

Raise Buckles

The Raise Buckles (レイズバックル, Reizu Bakkuru) are a series of items used by the Riders in the Desire Grand Prix to access new powers and abilities.

Form

The Form (フォーム, Fōmu) Raise Buckles grants the players armor-based forms. Unlike other Raise Buckles, the Form Raise Buckles’ designs are larger than normal Raise Buckles, and some of them have a matching buckle center design, which indicates the buckles' primary halves:

  • Magnum (マグナム, Magunamu): Equips the user with the Armored Gun (アーマードガン, Āmādo Gan) cannons and grants the use of the Magnum Shooter 40X (マグナムシューター40X, Magunamu Shūtā Fō Zero Ekkusu) firearm, which can switch between Handgun Mode (ハンドガンモード, Handogan Mōdo) and Rifle Mode (ライフルモード, Raifuru Mōdo). Its primary half is the Boost Raise Buckle.
  • Boost (ブースト, Būsuto): Grants increased fighting capabilities and the use of the BooStriker (ブーストライカー, Būsutoraikā) motorcycle, which can switch between Bike Mode (バイクモード, Baiku Mōdo) and its fox-like Geats Mode (ギーツモード, Gitsu Mōdo).[1] Its primary half is the Magnum Raise Buckle.
  • Zombie (ゾンビ, Zonbi): Equips the user with the poisonous BerserClaw (バーサークロー, Bāsākurō) and grants the use of the chainsaw-like Zombie Breaker (ゾンビブレイカー, Zonbi Bureikā) sword.[1]

Armed

The Armed (アームド, Āmudo) Raise Buckles grants the players additional weapons:

  • Arrow (アロー, Arō): Equips the user with the Raise Arrow (レイズアロー, Reizu Arō) bow.[1]
  • Water (ウォーター, Wōtā): Equips the user with the pipe-like Raise Water (レイズウォーター, Reizu Uōtā) gun.[3]
  • Hammer (ハンマー, Hanmā): Equips the user with the Raise Hammer (レイズハンマー, Reizu Hanmā).[3]
  • Shield (シールド, Shīrudo): Equips the user with the Raise Shield (レイズシールド, Reizu Shīrudo).[3]

Legend Rider

The Legend Rider (レジェンドライダー, Rejendo Raidā) Raise Buckles are modeled after previous Riders' respective transformation belts and primary trinkets, which grants the players armors based on the preceding Riders' primary forms and the use of their base arsenal:

  • Revice (リバイス, Ribaisu): A Revice Driver-themed Raise Buckle that grants an armor based on Kamen Rider Revi Rex Genome and the use of the Ohinbuster 50. First appears in the series finale of Kamen Rider Revice.

Jyamato

The Jyamato (ジャマト, Jamato) are monsters that appear in the Jyamar Area (ジャマーエリア, Jamā Eria), with three known sub-species including the Rook Jyamato (ルークジャマト, Rūku Jamato), the Pawn Jyamato (ポーンジャマト, Pōn Jamato) foot soldiers, and the sea slug-like giant Slug Fortress Jyamato (スラグフォートレスジャマト, Suragu Fōtoresu Jamato).[1][3]

  • Pawn Jyamato:
    • Japanese Dress Jyamato (和装ジャマト, Wasō Jamato): Japanese clothing-themed Pawn Jyamato.[1]
    • Thief Jyamato (盗賊ジャマト, Tōzoku Jamato): Thief-themed Pawn Jyamato.[3]
    • Zombie Jyamato (ゾンビジャマト, Zonbi Jamato): Zombie-themed Pawn Jyamato.[2]
  • Higher class Jyamato:
    • Castle Jyamato (城ジャマト, Shiro Jamato): A Japanese castle-themed Slug Fortress Jyamato. It is destroyed by Kamen Rider Geats.[1]
    • Leader Jyamato (頭領ジャマト, Tōryō Jamato): A thief-themed Rook Jyamato.[3]

Other characters

Sara Sakurai

Sara Sakurai (桜井 沙羅, Sakurai Sara) is Keiwa's older sister and a fan of certain famous celebrities like Neon Kurama and later Ace Ukiyo.[7][1]

Sara Sakurai is portrayed by Nene Shida (志田 音々, Shida Nene).[7]
