Censorship

You appear to be determined to prevent me editing material that is false and send me a longwinded message about procedures. A fact is a fact whether you believe so or not. The Image entitled Rosehill Packet is not the Rosehill Packet. The very article I am editing says no image exists so why continue to use it? Hoydan (talk) 22:58, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Hoyden:, I am sure you will also consider this longwinded, but you might want to read it, so as not to keep getting upset for no reason.
I think you are mistaking cleaning up disruptive edits for censorship. If you took the time to notice, you would see that I was only ONE of FIVE editors reverting your changes. I reverted this [[1]] edit, which clearly removed most of the info box and made the first section unreadable, because you didn't like the picture. This type of edit will be reverted EVERY time, by any editor. If you had bothered to read the caption and look at the image, you will note that no one ever claimed this was an image of the actual ship. It was an image of a generic Hoy used for illustrative purposes, as images improve articles.
In terms of the "longwinded message on procedures", if you had read it, you would also have noticed that it was not from me. It was from @Jeff G:, after he reverted nine of your edits up to that point, which had also destroyed the formatting of the info box and made the first section hard to read. He sent you that generic welcome message for new users to help them understand why their edits may have been reverted and as advice on how to improve your edits and contributions. Based on those edits, you obviously need to look at this information. You can not remove properly referenced material without stating a good reason, and information you remove or replace needs to have a valid reference showing the correct information. And, you need to follow proper grammar and formatting. You tried one more time, however this edit was also reverted (again not by me, but a second editor) as you again removed parts of the info box and made it hard to read. Now, at this point, it is obvious you were already upset, as you made this [[2]] post on a totally unrelated image file page, and then went on a disruptive slash and burn editing spree on the Rose Hill Packet page. This is when I and two additional editors got involved. The first editor, Jeff G, tried to help you, but you chose not to heed this advice.
Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a forum for opinions or unverifiable research. The very first paragraph of the welcome message explains this. Please review this information and then you can make meaningful and helpful contributions to this encyclopedia. It is obvious you have useful information to provide, it just needs to be properly referenced and formatted. This reply is meant to be helpful. Please take it that way. to readers.HI turgan
I do not want to slash and burn and you are not correct about the image. I is clearly labeled Rosehill Packet and that is misleading to readers. My edits no matter how small appear to be subject to a crude mechanical edit that rejects the smallest edit. This is very difficult. Wikipedia has a reputation as a source of reliable information. I have been researching this subject since 1985.I only want to ensure readers are getting an accurate account of the vessel. In first section it is said to have been named after Rosehill. I was Not. It was Named Prince William. and there is ample evidence in the journal of Judge Advocate David Collins. The vessel was not built on the King's slipway which did not exist in 1789. Underwood's yard was on the western side of the cove, not near the Custom's House and it was not built in 1789. Underwood was a convict who later became a ship builder.
I don't know how to proceed. The mechanical rejection suggests I start with minimal edits but still rejects every change as incorrect. I'm sorry to upset editors and would appreciate a way to overcome the impasse. Please help me get the article on the right track. 120.17.24.241 (talk) 20:16, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
