Ronald Stein (born April 29, 1941; also known as Ron Stein) is an engineer and energy policy advisor.[1]

Early life and education

Stein was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. He attended Santa Monica College. He received BS in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Northridge.[2]

Career

Stein started his career as a project manager at Fluor from July 1964 to August 1983. He managed different petrochemical projects on national as well as international levels. Later he worked as a project manager in Jaws Attraction, Florida, at Universal Studios from 1987 to 1990.

He established PTS Staffing in April 1995.[3] Since 2010, he has written about the energy sector and conservation. Stein's articles typically focus on topics such as renewable energy and fossil fuels.

Stein started Energy Literacy, an initiative for educating the public about energy topics. He is a policy advisor on energy literacy for the Heartland Institute[4] and The Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT).[5]

In 2020, PTS was renamed as PTS Advance,[6] and Stein became its Ambassador for Energy & Infrastructure. He is an internationally published columnist and energy consultant.[7]

Personal life

Stein is married and has two children, Russell Stein, and David Stein.

Publications

Stein has co-authored three books with Todd Royal on energy literacy.[8][9]

  • Energy Made Easy – Helping Citizens become Energy Literate (2019)[10]
  • Just GREEN Electricity – Helping Citizens Understand a World without Fossil Fuel (2020)[11]
  • Clean Energy Exploitations – Helping citizens understand the environmental and humanity abuses that support "clean" energy (2021);[12] a Pulitzer Prize-nominated book[5]

Stein has written over 200 op-eds and articles on energy and economics in various newspapers and periodicals. His work has been featured in the Eurasian Review,[13] the Heartland Institute,[14] the Cornwall Alliance,[15][16] and New Geography.[17]

Stein has been nominated for his book Clean Energy Exploitations (2021) for the Pulitzer Prize (2022) in the general category.[18]
