Christmas Eve, or Christmas Night (Ukrainian: Різдвяна ніч), is a comic-lyric opera in four acts by 19th-century Ukrainian composer Mykola Lysenko. It was composed in 1872. The libretto, by Mykhailo Starytsky, is based on the short story "Christmas Eve" by Mykola (Nikolay) Gogol'.
Performance history
The premiere performance took place on on January 25, 1874, in Kyiv, Ukraine, which was then part of the Russian Empire.
