Ateny Wek Ateny was the former press secretary at the Office of the President in the Republic of South Sudan.[1] Ateny Wek was appointed by President Salva Kiir as Press Secretary in November 2013,[2] a position he held till his removal in 2022, making him the longest serving Press Secretary in the Office of the President of the Republic of South Sudan.[3][4]
Prior to Ateny's appointment as the Press Secretary at the Office of the President, he was an opinion writer and political commentator for the daily newspaper known as "The Citizen Newspaper."
Ateny Wek Ateny was a staunch critics of President Salva Kiir's Administration.[5][6] This appointment was described by many Advocates and political analysts as an attempt to silent the critics from derailing the image of the Country's political leaders.[7]
