Speedy deletion nomination of Klavier Music Productions

Hello UnicornTapestry,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Klavier Music Productions for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

Status and Advice

Another admin deleted this; I think the best thing to do is to add the content to the article on the parent company and make a redirect. DGG ( talk ) 23:44, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

For the life of me, I cannot fathom how anyone could construe the article as a 'promotion'. I doubt if either admin bothered to read the article. With every teenager with a band showing up on Wikipedia, one would think a quarter-of-a-century old classical music company should be represented too, but apparently not. The problem with adding the content to the parent company is that Klavier Music Productions is a record company and the parent company isn't.

Thanks for the tip. How might I contest the deletion?

The first step in contesting it is to ask the deleting admin, who is User:RHaworth on his talk page. (I see you have already done this) He might restore it, but I suspect he is much more likely to offer to userify it, to move it into your user space space for improvement. If he won't restore it to user space, ask me what to do. I need to tell you for background that we are experiencing an increasing flood of promotional articles, including paid promotional editing from rings of incompetents, and we admins tend to look upon this as a bit of a crisis. I too have made hasty iudgements about G11.

The primary improvement it needs is better references. There need to be references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. The WPRB site seems a very useful page I had not previously encountered, but it may not get sufficient respect, being the site of a student radio station. A similar discussion in a publication of greater reliability, or, at least, greater apparent reliability, would go a long way. Reviews of individual recordings do not show notability of the label, unless they discuss the label--some will, but they usually do it only in passing.

Second, there is some phrases we try to avoid, phrasing that is often considered promotional.Avoid adjectives of praise--the only safe way to use them is a short quote from a reliable source. Avoid statement of motivation of the founder, unless you can source this from a third party reliable source. Such statements have become a hallmark of true routine paid promotional editing here, and I suspect that's what was spotted. The discussion of the company name is also characteristic of many promotional articles, tho it is not actually inappropriate content here, it's pretty meaningless because they don't specialize in Keyboard.

After improving it, ask someone to look at it, and say if its suitable for mainspace. If you have problems, let me know. I have myself tried to work on articles on classical labels--it is not easy finding good material. Thanks for your help. The advice about motivation and praise is well received. The deletion caught me in the midst of adding references (I do have a couple of others), so that wasn't complete. I'll get back to you one way or the other. I'm still astonished because my sole goal was to enhance Wikipedia and not the company! Yes it should have done so. It is a signal for caution about deletion, however, not a stop sign, and is ignored if not used in good faith . The admin apparently made the mistake of not seeing your work as good faith editing , presumably for the reason I explained. Stan, I can't do anything about it now: An admin deleted the original article about a classical music record company, Klavier Music Productions, and even deleted the version off my home page. Why a company well-known in the classical recording market isn't allowed doesn't make sense to me, even to the extent of deleting one of my personal pages. --Unicorn Tapestry ^{say} 15:04, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
