Hello Litehacker. I'm sorry that your experience has been negative. However, userboxes are not something that is of particular importance when editing articles, and as such are not included in the toolbar so as not to confuse people. It is true that Wikipedia editing in general is a lot too technical and our documentation is often not the most helpful, but we're working to change that in the near future!
