John T. Reed is a real estate investor and publisher; he is the author of several real-estate investment books. He is based in Alamo, California. He maintains a ranking of so called "real-estate gurus", and has developed a list of items which can be used to check for the legitimacy of claims by such people. He is best known for his extensive critique to Robert Kiyosaki's books and public statements, and recently for his very public disagreements with the real-estate writer Russ Whitney, who unsuccessfully sued Reed for libel. Reed represented himself in the litigation.

Among the books he was written are How to Get Started in Real Estate, How to Do a Delayed Exchange, and Single Family Lease Options. He has also written books on coaching youth sports. Reed's books are exclusively available by mail order through his website.
