Subgenres[edit]

Would the project banner benefit from the inclusion of a subgenre tag? This would be an optional tag to identify the subgenre (if one existed) for further classifying articles that may not be "classic" Western genre. The banner template markup certainly allows for this to be added. ButlerBlog (talk) 16:50, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think it might get a little cluttered. There are clearly subgenres of Westerns, but there will always be fussing about what goes in them. Spaghetti Western would be the most obvious, but there's also the traditional Western, the "Movie of the West" (I lifted that from the "Novel of the West" idea), and so on. Just my $.02. My line of thinking was that this would make it easier for running maintenance. However, there are already categories for the primary subgenres anyway, so that could be used, too. Since there's already the possibility to categorize them, it's probably better for now to leave it anyway. ButlerBlog (talk) 21:40, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
