Regarding this,[1] the article totally ignores the classic jingle, hence the "Advertising" section is biased. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 21:24, 9 June 2023 (UTC)
- The main reason why I reverted in this edit is WP:YOUTUBE. The YouTube user account TVKoku shows no signs of being officially linked to Old Spice, so the video is probably a copyright violation. Also, this is a US TV commercial and Old Spice is sold in many countries other than the US. I am British and the best known TV commercial for Old Spice is the one with the man on a surf board and the music O Fortuna (Orff).--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 07:14, 10 June 2023 (UTC)
- How is this[2] not a copyright violation? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 16:37, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
- It looks like an low quality home video recording of the surf board/Orff commercial. YouTube is full of videos like this, and they are generally not suitable as external links. This shouldn't really be in the article either.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 16:52, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
- Which would erase that paragraph in the article, because it would then be unreferenced. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 22:25, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
- The article Old Spice hasn't been in a brilliant condition for a long time. There is a need to provide secondary rather than primary sourcing, and this article looks at the surf board/Orff commercial.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 06:48, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
- That article also alludes to the "sailor" theme which was visible on that youtube clip I had posted. Finding info that talks about each of their advertising campaigns over the years could be a tall order. If their own website had a "history" page, that would be nice - but I'm not seeing one. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 07:05, 14 June 2023 (UTC)

Matthew Tyre
Hi again - and thanks for your work on the Jonathan King article. Nice job. Wonder if you'd take a look at something. The above article does not belong on Wikipedia, or anywhere else for that matter. It's a cynical misuse of the platform to sell a YouTube channel (his handle there is laowhy86) and down the line - I would guess - merch. This guy lived in Huizhou, China for years. So did I, oddly enough. Though our paths never crossed, he was a known headcase. Together with a pal of his from South Africa, they attracted so much attention to themselves that their visas were finally cancelled. Not nice, I know, but hey! - welcome to China. What ensued was a series of wholly ridiculous uploads in YouTube, culminating in the Bond classic, 'How I escaped China' (he achieved this by simply walking through customs into Hong Kong). This was followed by 'How I got my family out of China' (his wife and son got on a plane). Now, I'm no fan of the Chinese authorities or the PSB, but if they want to arrest you, they will. And if they don't care, you're simply allowed to leave whenever you like - as was the case here. I realise you're very busy, but a quick scoot through the article should make it clear that almost all of it is invented, as was the more dramatic, final YouTube stuff. If you have time, look through his many years of happy YouTube broadcasts from China. The paranoia didn't settle in until the last few weeks. I've seen this happen in China before. It's called being away from home for two long. But as a Wikipedia entry, this is absolute and total bullshit. And I don't think Wiki should be used to hold imaginary grudges or to get a new business off the ground. It should be deleted. 109.148.131.232 (talk) 16:48, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
Correction. "Tye".
Correction. Matthew Tye (not Tyre). 109.148.131.232 (talk) 16:57, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
