This military defeat was a huge humiliation to the cholas. After this invasion there was another invasion by rastrakuta king krishna III which also was defeated. |
This invasion is done by Parantaka II Generals and his relative the Irukkuvel chief Parantaka Siriyavelar. However this expedition did not end well for the Cholas as both Siriyavelar and the Chola King's brother in law, the Bana chief as well as the generals were all killed in battle.[1]
The main goal of this invasion was to conquer srilanka and absorb it as part of the chola empire. Which ended up in failure and General sena ended up defeating the chola invasion.[2]
