Hector Chalmers (9 January 1848 - 30 March 1943) was a Scottish painter.

Life

His father was Hector Chalmers [Snr] (24 September 1799 - 27 January 1852), a brewery manager from Hawick.

His mother was Louisa Elizabeth Brown (c. 1813 - 7 June 1889) from Liverpool, England. Hector and Louisa married on 8 June 1835 in Liverpool.

Hector Chalmers was born on 9 January 1848 in Hawick.

He married Jeannie Jamieson Frier (19 May 1852 - 3 April 1923) from Edinburgh. They married on 30 December 1875 in Edinburgh. Jeannie was also an artist and exhibited in the Royal Scottish Academy under her married name Jean Jamieson Chalmers. Her father was the artist Robert Frier.
