Narrator

Should 'omniscient narrator' not be replaced by 'extradiegetic narrator'? Of the works listed I have only read Heart of Darkness but the highest-level narrator in that story, at least, is clearly one of Marlow's fellow seamen aboard the Nellie - thus homo- and extradiegetic, but surely not omniscient.
